*bows to the unknown neighbor*
I would like to take this moment to thank whoever is kindly donating their bandwidth for my use. I have no idea who you are, and you probably don't either. But thank you all the same!
See, I'm online every night. But the hub and the wireless...transmitter? Emanater thingy?..thing...are turned off every night at 10. Therefore, I am not using my family's connection.
Does anyone happen to know how to tell my wireless thingy to pick up the right connection? Glad as I am to be online after 10 pm, I do feel a little odd using someone else's internet connection.
That's right, I'm POSTING!
I thought I would do something completely unexpected and post.
Of course, I didn't think about what I would post or anything. That would be sensible. I don't do sensible.
But I did finish
War and Peace! Which was a wonderful book, although I must say I think
Anna Karenina was better. Perhaps it was very deep, but I just found all the stuff about his theory on history BORING. Especially since he said the same thing every time. (haha, I use fragments!) His characters were, again, amazing, just as in
AK, but the ending especially threw me off. If the point of the whole book is what his last 10 pages or so is about, I'm honestly rather dissapointed. Those characters deserve better.
*interrupt* There's thunder!!! A real Texas thunderstorm! I have missed those so much in dear "sunny" CA. We got plenty of rain...but no lightning. Very boring. */interrupt*
So, having read
War & Peace, I think I am going to abandon my overly ambitious thesis idea. I'm going to stick with Jane Austen, because I have a much deeper understanding of her books. I enjoy Tolstoy, but I don't understand them any better than any other fairly literarily minded person of my level of education. However, having talked to so many people who just don't get Austen, or find her books boring, or whatever, I think I could write something worthwile on her. So. Austen it is! Maybe I'll write a defense of Emma, since she seems to be the most hated of all her heroines...anyway, the thunder is getting close, so I'd better get offline. Love to all!
